The fight against poaching is a national matter.

Comrade Kuzebny reports the following fact: "Lyamin, an employee of the Ermakov procurement office of the regional Consumer Union, fearing non-fulfillment of the plan for harvesting sable skins, concluded a contract for shooting sable with an excess of 300 pieces against the plan. Thus, he turned several dozen hunters into unwitting poachers. Having completed the sable harvesting plan, Lyamin did not accept the skins anymore and offered the hunters to hand them over next season."

There are no words, those comrades who demand increased responsibility towards poachers and their patrons are right. But this is only one side of the matter, the other is to strengthen mass educational work among hunters, as well as among the population, in particular among young people. The main role in this matter belongs to hunting societies, but, unfortunately, they do not always cope with it.

M. I. Bukis from the village of Miory, Molodechno region, Byelorussian SSR, also reports on the inactivity of the society of hunters and public hunting inspectors.

"In our neighborhood," writes Comrade. Bukis has a hunting society of about 100 people, but there are five times as many poachers. There is no fight against them. They kill game at any time of the year. The hunting society is inactive, and it has reached the point where even honest hunters have stopped taking tickets. Public inspectors are appointed on a first—come, first-served basis, as long as they are listed on paper. Employees of the district procurement office are only trying to harvest more furs, but they are not interested in what time it is harvested. So it turns out that even at the forbidden time for hunting, the office workers accept furs."

Comrade. Pondarenko (Krasnogorovka, Stalin region. He rightly believes that cinema can play an important role in promoting cultural hunting, as well as in combating poaching. Unfortunately, we have almost no films on hunting topics.

"If any movie talks at least a little bit about hunting, the audience watches these shots with great interest. So why not show us hunting on the screen, for example, a wolf or a bear? Why not show the life of the pride of our forests, the moose? Why not stigmatize the poachers in the movie?"

N. M. Grigoriev from Alma Ata also writes about the great role of propaganda in the struggle for cultural hunting. In particular, he reports that the Department of Hunting of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kazakh SSR has issued a "Hunter's Memo of Kazakhstan."

"This well-illustrated memo describes the rules and deadlines for hunting, highlights many issues of interest not only to beginners, but also to experienced hunters. Hunters of Kazakhstan speak with great approval about this laudable undertaking."

In this review, of course, we have not introduced the reader to all the letters on the issue of combating poaching received by the publisher. But these letters are enough to draw a firm conclusion: the hunting community considers the fight against poaching to be a national matter.
